Working from home has evolved from something that used to be unique and reserved for CEOs to becoming the new norm. It’s part of a modern work landscape. And because COVID was such a change for the human race in history, we’ve all learned some of the benefits of that pandemic was that working from home is actually more possible than we were led to believe. It doesn’t just benefit employees, either.

Yes, you have access to a more flexible working life, and you have the chance to become a virtual medical receptionist rather than being one that has to slip into a hospital of sick people every day. But you get a chance to learn that you can spend more time with the kids and less time commuting. Working from home is a game changer if you’ve been stuck in an office or you’ve been commuting for two hours every day. If you still are on the fence about whether you should make a switch and start working from home, let’s take a look at some of the massive benefits of working remotely.

  1. Balancing work and life is much easier. A lot of remote jobs come with flexible schedules. Your boss may not care what hours you work as long as the work is getting done and you’re not slacking. There is a lot of trust involved with working from home because if you don’t need somebody over your shoulder, you should be able to get a lot done. This means that you can start your day and end it as you choose, and usually that means not having to jump onto public transport or sit on the highway.
  2. With no commute, there’s less stress. The average commute time is usually around half an hour, but that’s not including any traffic time. And if you consider a round trip of 90 minutes a day on commuting, that’s 90 minutes you could be putting elsewhere. That’s an extra half an hour in bed. That’s 1/2 an hour workout before work really begins. That’s taking time for yourself with the kids in the morning to read a book.Or to have breakfast. You can still get your work done on your work day, but you don’t have to rush around trying to find extra childcare at the beginning and the end of the day just to be able to get the train.
  3. You’re not limited by your geographic location. If you’re living in rural communities, that means you can live cheaply and still work. As long as you have an Internet connection, you can get connected and work wherever you are, which means you can live as a digital nomad. This allows you to have the chance to have a meaningful career without having to worry about trying to survive the cost of living.crises in your local city.
  4. Better inclusivity. The disabled community has found that because of the working from home mandates since COVID, they’ve been able to capture work because they don’t have to worry about not being able to wheel a chair into a fourth floor office. Remote work enables companies to embrace diversity and inclusion. They can hire people from all different backgrounds. Both geographic, socioeconomic, and even cultural backgrounds. It can be challenging to accomplish this when recruiting is restricted to specific locations. Those with disabilities will also find that they are more introverted because they can still work, but no longer have that inconvenience of getting to an office.
  5. You’re going to save a lot of money. You can save a lot of money on gas, car maintenance, public transport, parking fees, wardrobe, lunches bought out, and more. When you work from home, you still need to eat, so you’ll cook from your own fridge. You still need to get to work so you can just walk from your bedroom to your office. You no longer have to worry about sitting in traffic for hours every day wasting petrol and watching your stress level rise.

  1. It’s good for the environment. With more people working from home, that means less people on the road. You have the potential to reduce the carbon footprint that you’ve been putting out there. And while you might work hybrid two to four days a week, you may think about the fact that this can reduce your greenhouse gases exponentially. Fully remote workers can reduce their carbon footprint by over 50%, and who wouldn’t want to save the planet while they work?
  2. It’s supportive of sustainability. We’ve already seen markedly reduced pollution, congestion and traffic by being able to work from home. Remote work supports a range of sustainability initiatives, which also means you can continue recycling at home and you can continue ensuring that you are not a burden to the ecological society.
  3. You can customize your office as you see fit. Who wants to go work in a boring old grey cubicle when you can have an office with a comfortable chair, some beautiful artwork and a plush carpet? If you have health issues that require specialist equipment, you can get that yourself. You can set up a Home Office that you love in a separate room, or you can work at the dining table while the kids play. Either way, it’s completely up to you.
  4. You can be more productive. There’s fewer interruptions when the kids are at school. There’s less office politics. You don’t have to search up and down the office for a water fountain or a toilet. Everything at home is yours to use as you see fit!
  5. You will be happier and healthier. This is probably the best reason to look at remote work. You’ll have more time for hobbies, for the kids, for friends, for your interests, and you can improve your personal relationships. Once that laptop shuts at the end of the day, you’re finished. If you could be happier and healthier but still maintain your career and salary, why wouldn’t you want to do that?
