It’s easy to fall behind on the housework sometimes. Who can blame us? We live busy lives. Whether that’s getting to work every day, doing the school run, making sure that pets are fed and watered or keeping up with our social lives. Regardless of your reasons, it’s important to remember that it’s okay for things to end up looking a little cluttered over time. It’s not the end of the world! You just need to take a few hours to have a good clear up and everything will be back to itself. Neat, tidy and running smoothly. Problems arise, however, when your belongings don’t have places that they belong in. Everything should have its own spot. This is where effective storage solutions come into play. As long as your home has good storage options, everything can be kept clean and tidy with no issues involved. Here are a few of our favorite storage options that you might like to try out in your own home!
Clothes
Clothes seem to get everywhere. We’re all familiar with the term floordrobe. In fact, it’s even been added to the dictionary! But avoid having one in your own home at all costs. Not only do clothes sprawled across floors pose a significant safety hazard, but they look messy too. Make sure that you have sufficient storage space for every single item of clothing that you own. Wardrobes can have extra shelves fitted or wicker baskets on top or on their floor space. These can then hold folded, smaller items like pyjamas, tees, vest tops and shorts. Find that you have too many shoes to fit in the bottom of your wardrobe? Not to worry. There’s a fix for that. Invest in a sneaker rack. One of these will hold your shoes and also keep your beloved pairs on display for the world to see. You can always put a door hanger on the back of your bedroom or bathroom door too. This will provide you with the perfect place to hang your dressing gown.
Toy Storage
If you have little ones, you’ll be well aware that toys manage to get absolutely everywhere. Your house can easily become overrun with action figures, board games and soft toys. Not to mention the notorious Lego bricks that are painful to stand on. Get a toy chest. Then, you can encourage your kids to tidy up after themselves when they’re finished playing. These are simple for just throwing toys into. The inside of the box itself doesn’t have to be pristine. Once the lid is closed, it will look sleek and well organised.
Bookshelves
If you are a book lover, chances are that you already have one or two bookcases set up around your home. But they can make an extremely good investment to even the less literary amongst us. Why? You don’t necessarily have to store books on them. They’re essentially an extra set of shelves that could accommodate all sorts of belongings. From houseplants to notebooks and photo frames.
