A well-organized pantry can do a lot for you – it can make meal prep easier, it can save you time, and it can help reduce food waste, so when you think about it, it’s definitely something you’ll want to try and achieve. However, sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to keep things tidy and easy to find, and if you’ve ever found yourself rummaging through a pile of boxes, jars, and cans looking for that one important spice, you’ll understand exactly what we mean. Of course, there are a number of great ways to organize your pantry, and with that in mind, just keep reading to find out what they are so you can make use of them.
Group Items Together
If you want an organized and tidy pantry, it’s a great idea to group similar items together, which means taking everything out and rearranging it – but although that might seem like a lot of effort, the reality is that once it’s done, you’ll always have a good idea of where everything is because all your spices will be in one place, pasta will be in another, baking supplies will be somewhere else, and so on.
This is actually a useful exercise anyway because it means you can throw out anything that’s past its best or you’re never going to use, and even though food waste isn’t ideal, if having a tidy pantry means you stop wasting food in the future, it makes sense to get the job done.
Once you’ve grouped everything, the next step is to find creative ways to label it all so you can see at first glance exactly what you’ve got because even if you know roughly where to look, it’s still important to make sure you find what it is you’re looking for.
Use Clear Jars And Containers
Clear containers are the best thing for storing your pantry items in because not only do they keep everything neat and uniform, but they also make it easy to see exactly what you’ve got, so you won’t have to guess anymore. Invest in some quality airtight containers for dry food like pasta, rice, flour, and cereal, and you’ll be well on your way to being more organized.
Label Everything
Although you like like to think that you’ll remember what everything else (and of course, some of it is going to be pretty obvious), it’s wise to actually label your jars and containers just to be on the safe side – the last thing you’ll want is to mix up your sugar and salt and ruin a tasty dish!
If you want to have a truly personalized pantry, why not design your own labels and then pay for short run label printing so you’ve got great quality labels to use in your pantry? It’s a flexible way to get the labels you need without having to pay over the odds, and you could even color-side the labels on a short run so you can quickly differentiate between different food at a glance.
Knowing what you’ve got and what you’re running out of as soon as you open your pantry door can save a lot of disappointment and confusion, and it’s one of the reasons why organizing your pantry is so important.
