When you feel beautiful, you exude confidence. You want to go out, even as the weather gets colder and the seasons change.

But which beauty trends should you be following in the latter half of 2024? What’s hot and what’s not?

That’s the topic of this post. We explore some leading trends, why they’re popular right now, and how you can implement them in your daily routine.

Velvet Nails

The thought of velvet makes some people cringe. For others, it is the ultimate luxury. Usually, it’s something you’d add to your drapes or upholstery. But in 2024, it is also a nail trend.

Velvet nails don’t have real velvet on them. But their finish makes them look soft and luxurious. The concept is quite abstract and still relatively new. However, nails look stunning after a manicure.

Graphic Eyeliner

Another hot beauty trend is the movement toward graphic eyeliner. More people are changing how they decorate the edges of their eyes, instead of using black lines only.

For some, floating liners are the style of choice. For others, it’s a colored eyeliner (which gives the face a completely unique look). Dark greens and browns are doing the rounds.

Graphic eyeliners have become possible because of the invention of gel liners, replacing conventional pencils. These allow for more accurate applications and won’t smudge immediately the moment they come into contact with hands or sweat.

Graphic eyeliner is also something that can be worn all day. Just look for the tubes and bottles in your local makeup store.

Monochromatic Makeup

Monochromatic makeup is a relatively new approach designed to save time. The idea is to match blush, lip color and eye shadow so that everything fits together better.

This approach to makeup is a pushback against the trend of spending hours in the bathroom applying various elements to the face. It’s a way to make makeup applications similar to brushing teeth (so that it only takes a few minutes).

Monochromatic makeup over autumn should focus on brown and orange shades (as long as they suit your skin). These additions can make the application look subtle and dramatic, helping you feel confident wherever you go.

Conch Piercing

Conch piercing is another beauty trend we’re seeing during late 2024. Instead of piercing the lobe, some people are opting for another part of the auricle, called the conch. This is the fold closer to the opening, allowing for more piercings.

The technique is well-established and is something that numerous people have done every year. It is compatible with most studs, allowing you to wear the look how you want.

Fluffy Brows

Seventy years ago, nobody cared about the size of their eyebrows. Then, starting in the 1980s, that began to change. More individuals wanted them to be thinner and trimmer.

This trend continued until recently. However, now the fashion is for bigger, fuzzier eyebrows that stand out more on the face.

The goal today is to define the brows, not overfill them. Again, this trend has become possible because of the invention of eye gels that allow for more accurate makeup application.

Some products go by the name “tinted gel,” but they essentially do the same thing. Many products make the eyes look softer and more welcoming.

Skincare, Not Makeup

Another trend for late 2024 is the movement toward skin minimalism or the idea that skincare routines should take the place of foundation and concealer.

This approach is making waves in circles more interested in health and lifestyle. People are seeing what can be done with a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle compared to, say, consuming junk products.

Many individuals are also recognizing the value of leaving their complexions make-up-free for longer. Eliminating harsh products and chemical compounds reduces skin irritation and leads to clearer pores long-term.

Retro Blush

Finally, we’re seeing the advent of retro blush techniques. These sweep the blush up to the cheeks and temples for an old-school look from thirty or forty years ago.

Furthermore, blush colors are also changing. We’re seeing more deep rose and berry tones. These colors blend into the autumn and tie into the theme of the season.

Adding liquid blushes usually works best since these most closely resemble the look of a natural blush. Powders are okay, but they offer less of a dewy effect.

So there you have it: the beauty trends of the current season. Take these with you as the weather changes and experiment to see how they make you feel. We think they’re real confidence boosters.
