When it comes to your home, naturally you want the space to be somewhere that you can easily relax and unwind. You want your home to be your sanctuary, your escape from the stresses and strains of the outside world. The issue is that if your home isn’t organised in the right way, it can make relaxing and feeling at home seriously difficult.
One of the most common reasons that a property doesn’t feel like home is because of clutter. A cluttered property can often feel too messy to relax in, because when there’s items absolutely everywhere, it becomes difficult for your mind to switch off and for you to relax, regardless of if you’re in your own personal space.
Bearing that in mind, knowing how to ensure that your home remains uncluttered, can be rather tricky, because there’s just so much that you need to think about. However, the good news is that with the right approach it is doable to completely de-clutter your home.
Focus on one room at a time
When it comes to the de-cluttering process, it’s far too easy to get overwhelmed. That’s why it’s a good idea to aim to focus on one room at a time, working through different rooms slowly. Instead, of trying to de-clutter the entire house all at once and ending up in a total mess.
Start with just one room, slowly working through each area of the room. For instance, you could start with a wardrobe, and then once you’ve de-cluttered that, you could then move onto a chest of drawers. The most important thing is not to try and clear various things at once, simply focus on one small area at a time.
Consider sourcing some additional storage space
As you clear out your home, as well as finding items that you’re happy to part with, you will probably come across things that, although you don’t need now, you would like to have access to in the future. This tends to be things like childhood keepsakes and pieces of furniture that you love but just don’t fit properly in your current home.
Instead of getting rid of these things or leaving them cluttering up your home, consider looking at self storage specials and consider whether renting a storage space could be the answer to keep your home clutter free without having to chuck out items that you actually want and need.
Have a day-to-day clutter process
Over time, clutter can begin to build up around your home, so it helps if you have a daily or weekly clutter process where you organise and return items cluttering up your home to their rightful storage places.
There you have it, a simple guide to how you can more easily achieve a home that’s clutter free.
